My Story – Living Asana

“Why can’t we have this, Mom?

Why can’t we go on vacation like others?” My dad was the second-generation president of a small business company in Japan, but was poor because he was stuck with $1M in debt by co-signing someone else’s loan and this guy had run away and ditched his obligation. But I never heard my dad complaining of his financial hardship.

When I was 12, I had my first job while being a student and always had a job until I got married after graduating from college. I was ambitious to live an American dream by leaving my country at the age of 18 and came to the US for college. I was married to an American husband for 24 years, but he was alcoholic and left our family with 4 kids to live with his affair partner. I had to divorce him, and it turned my life upside down.

I was devastated and lost myself for a while and it led me into the mental health space; I dealt with depression, anxiety, had series of counseling, spiritual help, support, etc. I kept doing exercises, yoga & meditation to be healed, and worked hard to strive to live a healthy life again. I’ve started from ground zero to become a yoga/meditation instructor & a Japanese language tutor. I gained my strength back to be mentally, emotionally, physically and financially independent.

I managed to travel the world and be connected, and I love helping others to live a healthier and happier life.

I hope my site inspires others to have the courage to start over again after incredible losses. We don’t have to merely survive but can learn to thrive as I have done so, personally.  We are all on our journeys! Life has a lot to offer, take each day one breath at a time and live fully in your joy. Each moment is precious.

With Love,

Living Asana
